However his statement that China places importance on ideology means the rest of the world need not fear China as she will never realise her true potential.

In a nutshell, China can only be a regional power. All this hype about the China threat is a somescreen by the US conservatives to justify more military spending. 

China whose borders is surronded by so many countries cannot be a global power, its impossible, so much of her military strength has to be at home for national security. She also does not have the soft power like the USA and its impossible to see a EU-China alliance to balance USA.</description>
